Vice-Chancellor Outlines Five Key Policies to Propel UUM Towards Excellence
SINTOK, 12 January 2025: The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan outlined five main policies to achieve university excellence in 2025 during the Vice-Chancellor’s Address with the Student Body for the 2024/2025 Session at the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Convention Centre.
He highlighted educational management policies centred on academic excellence, infrastructure and infostructure policies designed to enhance campus facilities and systems, financial management and sustainability strategies aimed at ensuring financial sustainability, internationalisation effort targeting global recognition, and community management policies that promote cooperation and harmony among university denizens.
These policies demonstrate UUM’s commitment to drive excellence and produce graduates who excel academically, are competitive, and contribute positively to society and the nation.
In addition, he also highlighted the university’s notable achievements, including being ranked as the top institution in Malaysia in the categories of focused public universities, non-research public universities, and public universities under 50 years old.
“These achievements reflect the university’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and fostering exceptional human capital development, establishing UUM as the preferred institution for students and researchers, especially in the fields of management and leadership.
“The commitment and strong support from all stakeholders, especially students, are anticipated to significantly contribute to the realisation of the university’s vision and mission of maintaining its position as a leader in quality and competitive education on a global scale,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor’s Address with the Student Body for the 2024/2025 Session served as a platform to communicate UUM’s strategic direction while also enhancing the collaborative spirit between the university management and student leaders in the pursuit of shared excellence.
Building on its proud achievements across various fields in 2024, UUM continues to advance with unwavering confidence as it navigates the challenges of 2025.
This ceremony marked the conclusion of the First Organisational Management Course (KPO) for the 2024/2025 Session of the Student Body. It was attended by more than 350 participants, including members of the Student Representative Council (MPP), the Supreme Council of Clubs/Associations, and the Supreme Council of the Student Leadership and Development Committee (JKPS). This event was organised by the Student Excellence and Leadership Centre (SELECT) alongside the MPP and the JKPS Presidential Council (MPJ).
Also present at the event were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed; Dean of Student Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr Zainudin Omar; Director of the Student Affairs Department, Mr. Muhammad Iskandar Zulkarnain Muhammad Suhaimi; along with key officials such as the Chairperson of the UUM Council of Principals for Student Residential Halls, Assoc. Prof. Dr Rohani Abdullah; Manager of the Student Excellence and Leadership Centre (SELECT), Mr. Mohd Farhan Ismail; principals of student residential halls; and officials from the Student Affairs department.
