UUM Recognised as Strategic Partner of International Green Build Conference (IGBC) 2025
PETALING JAYA, 21 August 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to strengthen its role in advancing the sustainability agenda, having been recognised as a Strategic Partner of the International Green Build Conference (IGBC) 2025, held at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya.
The IGBC is a prestigious conference that brings together industry experts, academics, policymakers and technology innovators from across the globe to exchange ideas and solutions in the field of green construction.
The Director of the Centre for University-Industry Collaboration, UUM, Prof. Dr Chandrakantan Subramaniam, announced an exciting opportunity that will allow UUM students to participate in a sustainability idea competition focusing on innovations within the construction industry.
This recognition underscores UUM’s commitment to advancing the sustainability agenda and fostering sustainable development in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the National Energy Transition Policy.
Through this strategic engagement, UUM shares its expertise in sustainable management, green innovation, and environmental governance.
The prestigious conference, jointly organised by GreenRE and REHDA Institute, focuses on enhancing global dialogue and collaboration in the fields of green construction and sustainable development.
Among the distinguished members of the organising committee are Datuk Seri FD Iskandar, Dato’ Jeffrey Ng, Tan Sri Eddy Chen, Datuk Muztaza Mohamad, and Datuk Seri Dr. Michael KC Yam, all of whom bring significant expertise and influence within Malaysia’s real estate and construction sectors.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan expressed his heartfelt appreciation for UUM’s recognition as a Strategic Partner, reaffirming the university’s commitment to fostering collaborations that will foster a greener and more sustainable future. He further emphasised that UUM will continue its proactive involvement in advancing the sustainable development agenda, in line with its vision of becoming a leader in sustainable development management and policy.
“This involvement also opens up opportunities for UUM researchers, students and alumni to participate in this international platform, thus strengthening the university’s reputation as a significant and impactful centre of knowledge.
“UUM’s participation in IGBC 2025 reflects the university’s commitment to the SDGs and the National Energy Transition Policy. It also highlights the importance of fostering collaboration between academia and industry to create a greener and more inclusive future,” he said.
This conference also offered valuable opportunities for students through engagement sessions with potential employers in the construction sector namely SP Setia, Sime Darby, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) and Sunway Property.
