Graduates Urged to Apply Knowledge in Daily Work
ALOR SETAR, November 14, 2024: Prospective graduates of the Centre for Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) have been reminded to utilise the knowledge and experience gained during their studies in their daily work.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, expressed his belief that the knowledge and experience acquired at UUM provide valuable and positive inputs not only for the individual but also for their careers and the broader community.
He noted that the graduands have undergone a long journey filled with numerous challenges to enhance themselves with knowledge, all while balancing career and family commitments.
“Everyone’s journey is unique, and there have been various tests along the way during their studies.
“I believe this success was not achieved easily, but through persistent effort in overcoming challenges and obstacles, until the dream of holding a degree became a reality,” he said during the PACE UUM Graduates’ Dinner 2024. He added that the graduands have also realised their personal dreams and ambitions, as they will receive their bachelor’s degrees in their respective fields.
According to him, this is an unimaginable joy after years of hard work and obstacles, which have now finally come to fruition” he said.
“As a result of this success, the time has come the alumni of UUM PACE to give back to their alma mater.
“Without the role and contributions of alumni, the alma mater would not progress far. Therefore, I urge graduates to invest their time, energy, ideas, and financial support in giving back to UUM in any way they can,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Director of PACE, Assoc. Prof. Dr Herman Shah Anuar, mentioned that the dinner event was held to celebrate PACE part-time graduands, with 688 graduands set to attend the upcoming convocation ceremony.
According to him, among them, 42 graduands achieved First-Class Honours.
“I am confident that the graduands have faced numerous obstacles and challenges,” he said.
PACE offers five part-time bachelor’s degree programmes, and a total of 17,000 students have successfully graduated and become UUM alumni.
Graduand representative, Ms.Nur Jannah Ahmad, expressed her gratitude for being accepted into UUM and for successfully completing her studies.
She said that they are both proud and grateful to be part of UUM’s alumni, as UUM now holds an excellent position on the global stage.
“I am thankful to UUM and our families for giving us the opportunity to further our education, as well as for their support and encouragement, which have enabled us to prove that UUM graduates are distinguished and capable of competing at national and international levels,” she added.
