SOSCoE Presents 2024 Activities and 2025 Project Proposals to PERKESO

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 March 2025: The Executive Committee Meeting of the Social Security Management Centre of Excellence (SOSCoE) No. 1/2025 recently took place at Board Meeting Room 1, PERKESO Tower, Jalan Ampang.

The meeting was held to present the activities carried out by SOSCoE in 2024 and to propose projects for the year 2025.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chief Executive (Operations) of the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), Mr. Azirruan Ariffin. Also in attendance were the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan; the Dean of the School of Business Management (SBM), Assoc. Prof. Dr Shuhymee Ahmad, and the Director of SOSCoE, Prof. Dr Fadzli Shah Abd Aziz.

The Director of SOSCoE, Prof. Dr Fadzli Shah stated that SOSCoE had presented its financial and activity reports for 2024, and PERKESO had expressed high satisfaction with SOSCoE’s achievements, particularly in three high-impact programmes. One of the key highlights was the Social Security Management International Conference (SSMiC 24), held at the Riverside Majestic Hotel, Sarawak, officiated by Deputy Prime Minister II, Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof.

Another significant initiate was the Green Sustainability Programme organised in collaboration with the Orang Asli community at Pantai Cunang, Selangor.

In addition, the Resilience and Future Optimisation for Beneficiaries of PERKESO’s Invalidity Pension Scheme (PROGRESS), conducted at the Seminar Hall of the Islamic Centre from 24 to 26 May 2024. This programme was a collaboration between SOSCoE and the Institute of Excellent Teachers and Leaders in Education (IETLE), School of Education (SOE).

Furthermore, PERKESO has approved a funding allocation of RM490,000 for the development of academic programmes, including the Bachelor of Human Resource Management with Social Security Management (BHRM with SSM) and the Master of Science in Social Security Management (MSc. SSM) at UUMKL, the development of the Social Security Management module, the publication of the Journal of Social Security Management and various community engagement activities.
