UUM Eases Burden by Extending Essential Aid to Infants and Women
SUBANG JAYA, 6 April 2025- Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues its commitment to community support by mobilising a team of volunteers to the Temporary Relief Centre (PPS) at the Putra Heights Mosque, delivering essential necessities for children and women impacted by the recent gas pipeline explosion.
The relief mission, coordinated by the Department of Social Welfare (JKM), provided essential items for mothers and children, including infants. The items distributed included face towels, sanitary pads, disposable diapers, cotton wool, wet wipes, dry tissues and face moisturiser.
The contribution was presented yesterday by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Martadha Mohamed.
Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan stated that this effort demonstrates the concerns and solidarity in helping those in need, especially women and children.
“I hope all victims affected by these circumstances will remain strong during this challenging time, particularly as it coincides with the month of Syawal,” he said.
Also in attendance were officers from JKM, Malaysian Universities Volunteer Council (MASKUM), UUM Student Excellence Leadership Centre (SELECT), UUM Student Representative Council and on-duty volunteers.
