UUM Forges Strategic Ties with LKIM

PUCHONG, 5 April 2026: Today marked another significant milestone in the strategic relationship between Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and national agencies as UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, paid a courtesy visit to the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM).

The visit was made even more meaningful by the presence of LKIM Director-General, Dr Abdul Salim Tajudin, a distinguished UUM alumnus.

Dr Abdul Salim is a proud and accomplished product of UUM, having completed his Bachelor of Public Management in 2005, followed by a Master’s degree in 2009, and later earning a Doctor of Philosophy in the same field in 2019. Today, he leads LKIM, an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Malaysia, in advancing the development and sustainability of the nation’s fisheries sector.

The courtesy visit also served as a meaningful platform to explore potential strategic collaborations between UUM and LKIM, particularly in the areas of talent development, research, knowledge exchange, and the empowerment of the national fisheries industry.

More than a formal engagement, this visit stands as a powerful testament to the continued success of UUM alumni in assuming leadership roles within key national institutions. It also underscores UUM’s steadfast aspiration to produce high-quality leaders and managers who are not only academically accomplished, but also capable of making impactful contributions to the nation.
