Sultan of Kedah, Chancellor of UUM, Graciously Consents to Attend the 38th UUM Convocation Ceremony

ALOR SETAR, 21 October 2025 – His Royal Highness Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, the Sultan of Kedah and Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), has graciously consented to an audience with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, at Wisma Darul Aman today.

During the audience, the Vice-Chancellor had the honour of apprising His Royal Highness on matters pertaining to the forthcoming 38th UUM Convocation Ceremony as well as the recent admission of new students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The 38th Convocation Ceremony, which is scheduled to take place from 9 to 13 November 2025, will be a momentous occasion celebrating the success of more than 6,000 graduands, comprising recipients of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees.

In the course of the audience, the Vice-Chancellor also apprised His Royal Highness of the recipient of the Honorary Doctorate, a distinguished individual who has made outstanding contributions to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge, and rendered exceptional service to the nation and society at large.

His Royal Highness was further informed that, as of 16 October 2025, UUM had welcomed 4,781 new students, both local and international, who have enrolled in 47 Bachelor’s degree programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

At present, the total enrolment at UUM stands at 24,106 undergraduate students and 4,150 postgraduate students, reflecting the university’s steadfast commitment to academic excellence and its stature as a leading institution of higher learning in Malaysia.

Also in attendance during the audience were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr Ram Al Jaffri Saad.
