UUM Strengthens International Ties with Navoi State University, Uzbekistan

SINTOK, 7 July 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is making significant strides in strengthening its international networks, as evidenced by the recent visit from 22 delegates representing Navoi State University (NSU) from Uzbekistan.

The delegation led by the Vice-Chancellor of NSU, Prof. Dr Narzikulova Dilnoza Khoshimjonovna, comprised heads of departments and lecturers from a range of academic disciplines at the university.

Their visit was part of their participation in the Collaborative Network for Educator Capacity and Teaching Transformation (CONNECT) Programme – a professional development initiative spearheaded by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasniza Nordin through the Future Learning and Development Competence Centre (FLanDeCC), School of Education (SOE), UUM.

During the meeting with the delegates, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan, reaffirmed the UUM’s unwavering dedication to expanding its international educational collaboration network.

Meanwhile, the Dean of SoE, Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Khairi Othman, highlighted the potential of the CONNECT programme to serve as a vital link for collaboration between UUM and NSU as well as with other institutions in Uzbekistan.

“This programme opens doors for us to explore the potential of research collaboration and academic advancement.

“Cultural and language differences do not hinder our ability to share knowledge and build a strong educational network on a global scale,” he said.

The CONNECT programme consists of seven learning modules delivered through a blend format of face-to-face and online sessions. With a total duration of 144 hours, the programme is tailored to meet the professional development needs of NSU lecturers.

Expressing her appreciation, Prof. Dr Narzikulova Dilnoza Khoshimjonovna praised the quality and impact of the programme.

“We are sincerely grateful to FLanDeCC and the UUM School of Education for their efforts in organising this meaningful and impactful programme.

“The CONNECT programme enables NSU lecturers to enhance their teaching skills while also gaining valuable insights into the quality control process and study programme standards,” he said.

Programmes like this demonstrates UUM’s dedication to enhancing international academic networks.
