SOIS hosts UKM postgraduate delegation for strategic dialogue and intellectual exchange

SINTOK, 24 May 2026: The School of International Studies (SOIS), Universiti Utara Malaysia welcomed a delegation from Jaringan Siswazah Nusantara (JSN 12/2026), Research Center for History, Politics and International Affairs, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, during an academic visit held today at SOIS.

The visit was conducted under the Program Jaringan Siswazah Nusantara Kali Ke-12/2026, which was organised by Master’s students from the Strategic and Security Analysis programme under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UKM, through the course Globalisasi dan Isu-Isu Keselamatan Antarabangsa.
The programme involved a total of 22 participants comprising Master’s students and one undergraduate student. The participants consisted of both public sector officers and fresh graduates pursuing their studies on a full-time basis. The delegation also represented students from Semester 1, Semester 2, and Semester 3 of the programme.

The visit served as a valuable platform to strengthen academic networking and foster closer collaboration between both institutions, particularly in the areas of history, politics, security studies, and international affairs. In addition, the engagement provided opportunities for intellectual exchange, knowledge sharing, and meaningful discussions among academics and postgraduate students.
In conjunction with the visit, a forum entitled “Dinamika Keselamatan Sempadan Malaysia–Thailand: Isu, Cabaran dan Strategi” was organised at the Main Meeting Room of SOIS. The forum featured Mohamad Faisol Keling and Che Mohd Aziz Yaacob as panelists, while Ku Nurasyiqin Ku Amir served as the moderator.

The forum highlighted various contemporary issues related to the Malaysia–Thailand border landscape, including cross-border challenges, regional security dynamics, and strategic approaches towards strengthening bilateral cooperation and border management.
