UUM Strengthens International Network through the Signing of Two MoUs in Indonesia

JAKARTA, 12 July 2026: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to strengthen its internationalisation agenda through the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Indonesian higher education institutions during the Mega Ayo Kuliah di Malaysia 2026 programme held at the Kempinski Grand Ballroom, Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta.

Organised by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), the programme brought together Malaysian higher education institutions to promote Malaysia as a preferred destination for Indonesian students pursuing higher education.

The first MoU was signed between UUM and Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi (UMMI), while the second was signed with Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. Both collaborations are expected to create wider opportunities for student and staff mobility, joint research, academic development, the exchange of expertise, and the implementation of various collaborative initiatives that will benefit both institutions.

The exchange of the MoUs symbolised UUM’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with higher education institutions in Indonesia, in line with the university’s aspiration to produce globally competitive graduates and expand its international collaboration network.

UUM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, said the signing of the two MoUs reflects the university’s continued commitment to strengthening strategic international partnerships, particularly with higher education institutions in Indonesia, which share close historical, cultural, and educational ties with Malaysia.

According to him, the collaboration will provide greater opportunities for students and academics from both institutions to participate in mobility programmes, joint research, scholarly publications, curriculum development, and the exchange of expertise, thereby enhancing academic excellence and generating greater societal impact.

“UUM remains committed to expanding high-impact international collaborations. Strategic partnerships with higher education institutions in Indonesia not only strengthen bilateral relations but also contribute to the development of globally competitive human capital and reinforce the regional higher education ecosystem,” he said.

UUM’s participation in the Mega Ayo Kuliah di Malaysia 2026 programme also provided an opportunity for prospective Indonesian students to obtain first-hand information on the university’s academic programmes, learning facilities, scholarships, and campus life.

The programme serves as an important platform for promoting Malaysia as a world-class higher education hub while attracting more international students to pursue their studies in the country.

The signing of the two MoUs once again underscores UUM’s commitment as a Leading Management University to strengthening sustainable international collaboration networks, while supporting Malaysia’s aspiration to become a global higher education destination.
