Assoc. Prof. Dr Bakti Hasan Basri Commences Tenure as UUM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni)
SINTOK, 21 April 2026 – Assoc. Prof. Dr Bakti Hasan Basri officially commenced his tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) today, with a formal reporting-for-duty session at 8.30 a.m., accompanied by a symbolic clock-in ceremony at the foyer of the UUM Chancellery Building.
Following the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr Bakti paid an official courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, at the latter’s office.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha extended his heartfelt congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr Bakti on his appointment as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni).
The Vice-Chancellor remarked that the appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) carries with it a significant trust and responsibility, which must be carried out with utmost dedication and excellence to ensure the successful realisation of all strategic agendas outlined by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) under the leadership of Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, including the continued empowerment of the student agenda.
He further emphasised that UUM remains steadfast in giving due priority to student welfare while preserving the spirit of camaraderie and collegiality among the university community, as part of its broader aspiration to elevate the institution’s standing and achieve the targets set under its Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
The appointment of Assoc. Prof. Dr Bakti is expected to further strengthen the university’s ongoing efforts to advance holistic student development, while also enhancing strategic engagement between the university and the UUM alumni community.
Also present were the Bursar, Mr Mohtar Hasim; Deputy Registrar, Mr Mohd Zulkifli Mohd Noor; and several senior university officers, who witnessed the official reporting-for-duty session at the foyer of the UUM Chancellery Building.
