SINTOK, 22 July 2026: The Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB), successfully organised the Scopus and WoS Publishing Masterclass: Strategies for Publication Success in conjunction with the Community Service Programme and Institutional Collaboration Exploration, in collaboration with the Indonesian Multidisciplinary Lecturer Community (IMLC).
The masterclass brought together postgraduate students, UUM academics, and more than 50 lecturers from Indonesia representing the IMLC, providing a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and academic networking. Designed to strengthen research publication competencies, the programme equipped participants with practical strategies for publishing in high-impact journals indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science (WoS).
The session featured two distinguished speakers, Associate Professor Dr Bahtiar Mohamad and Professor Sr. Dr Mohd Nasrun Mohd Nawi, who shared their expertise on developing high-quality manuscripts, selecting appropriate journals, responding effectively to reviewers’ comments, and improving the likelihood of publication in internationally recognised journals. Participants also gained valuable insights into current publishing trends, research impact, and best practices for enhancing the quality and visibility of their scholarly work.
Speaking at the programme, Deputy Dean of OYAGSB, Professor Dr Selvan Perumal, highlighted the importance of initiatives that cultivate a strong research culture while fostering international academic collaboration.
“Research publication is one of the key pillars of academic excellence. Through programmes like this, we not only equip our postgraduate students and academics with practical knowledge to publish in reputable international journals, but also create valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration with scholars from neighbouring countries.
Such engagements contribute significantly to enhancing research quality, increasing international visibility, and promoting impactful collaborations that benefit all participating institutions,” he said.
Professor Dr Selvan added that the masterclass reflects OYAGSB’s continuous commitment to advancing postgraduate research by exposing students and academics to international best practices in scholarly publishing. He also expressed hope that the collaboration with IMLC would pave the way for future joint research projects, co-authored publications, academic mobility programmes, and other initiatives that further strengthen academic ties between Malaysia and Indonesia.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants active engaged with the speakers on publication challenges, research collaboration opportunities, and emerging trends in scholarly publishing.
The enthusiastic participation from both UUM and IMLC delegates underscored the success of the masterclass in advancing research excellence and reinforcing OYAGSB’s role as a hub for postgraduate education, research innovation, and international academic collaboration.
