OYAGSB enhances campus safety with First Aid and Emergency Preparedness Talk

SINTOK, 23 April 2026: The Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) recently organised a First Aid and Safety Talk for its staff as part of its ongoing initiative to strengthen campus safety and emergency preparedness.

The programme featured Lieutenant (CD) Nur Izzatul Nazirah from the Kubang Pasu District Malaysia Civil Defence Force, who shared practical insights into essential first aid procedures and appropriate responses during medical emergencies.

Under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syahida Abdullah, the session was supported by OSH OYAGSB Chairman Prof. Dr. Hasnizam Shaari, along with management representatives Datuk Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah and En. Zulkifli Omar.

Throughout the session, participants took part in practical exercises designed to reinforce key emergency response procedures. These hands-on activities were aimed at enhancing the staff’s ability to apply first aid skills with greater accuracy and confidence. Beyond the technical training, the programme served as a platform to cultivate a culture of safety awareness and shared responsibility across the university community.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syahida Abdullah, as the Coordinator of the OSH Committee, emphasised that the safety talk is a critical component in reinforcing a community-wide culture of preparedness.

This sentiment was further echoed by Associate Colonel (CD) Datuk Prof. Ts. Dr. Norazah Mohd Suki. Representing the Dean of OYAGSB during the closing remarks, she noted that such initiatives are essential in building a more resilient campus environment and fostering a stronger sense of collective duty.

The encouraging response from the participants highlights the continued relevance of these initiatives in equipping staff with valuable life-saving skills.
