KUALA LUMPUR, 15 April 2026: The Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB) has taken a proactive step towards enhancing the quality of its institutional reporting with the establishment of a special task force dedicated to news and institutional report writing, following the successful News Writing Workshop held on 9 April 2026.

The initiative was introduced to elevate the standard, consistency, and impact of news reports produced within the school, particularly in showcasing academic achievements, institutional events, and strategic collaborations. The newly formed task force will focus on producing well-structured, engaging, and professionally written articles that are aligned with recognised media and institutional communication standards.

The workshop was facilitated by Assoc Prof Dr Bahtiar Mohamad, Deputy Dean of Research, Innovation and Corporate Relations, who shared valuable insights into effective news writing techniques and professional reporting practices. Participants were guided on key journalistic principles, including the use of the inverted pyramid structure, the crafting of impactful headlines, and the development of strong news leads to capture readers’ attention from the outset.

The initiative also received the full support of the Dean, Prof Dr Hasnizam Shaari, reflecting OYAGSB’s strong commitment to enhancing communication excellence and strengthening professional writing standards across the institution.

Beyond knowledge-sharing, the workshop served as a practical platform to equip staff with essential journalistic skills through a series of hands-on exercises aimed at improving clarity, accuracy, structure, and storytelling in institutional reporting.

Moving forward, the task force is expected to play a pivotal role in coordinating and producing high-quality news content, while also serving as an internal reference group for best practices in writing, reporting, and content development within OYAGSB.

The workshop concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing appreciation for the practical insights and hands-on guidance provided. The initiative marks a meaningful step forward in OYAGSB’s efforts to elevate the quality of its institutional communications and further strengthen its culture of professional reporting. – Alyaa Nadzirah Ahmad
