CHINA, 18 November 2025: Baise University recently hosted the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Roadshow 2025, an initiative aimed at strengthening international academic collaboration, promoting research partnerships, and support postgraduate talent development.

The event, organised by the School of Tourism and E-Commerce, centred on the theme “Fostering Collaboration, Cultivating Innovation, and Connecting Scholars Beyond Boundaries.”

As part of the programme, UUM conducted two knowledge-sharing sessions titled, “Bridging Research Across Borders – Building Sustainable Academic Networks.” These sessions emphasised the importance of collaborative research, student mobility, international training exposure, and the development of future-ready scholars in emerging research areas.

The roadshow saw strong participation from Baise University’s senior leadership, including the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Li Kaixuan; Vice Deans, Dr Zhou Wanyang and Dr Cao Shuxin; Programme Chair, Ms. Li Xiang; Programme Coordinator, Dr Wang Qing; Director of International Affairs, Prof. Wu Xianyong and Vice Director of International Affairs, Dr Liang Jie.

According to Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr Mohamad Ghozali Hassan, who also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Baise University, the active involvement of Baise University officials demonstrates the university’s strong commitment to enhancing international cooperation, expanding research mobility, and enhancing postgraduate training.

UUM highlighted its position as a leading public university in Asia, recognised as The Eminent Management University of Malaysia. The sessions also introduced participants to UUM’s internationally accredited business school, its strong technology and computing programmes, and its supportive, multicultural campus environment.

Participants received detailed guidance on PhD entry requirements, scholarship opportunities, English language pathways, and flexible research-based options. Key elements of the discussions included strategies for developing impactful PhD research topics with originality and feasibility within a three-to-four-year timeframe; identifying literature gaps and addressing real-world industry challenges; applying emerging technologies, including AI, to fields such as tourism, healthcare, and e-commerce; aligning research directions with national and global priorities, including SDG2030 and Malaysia’s 10-10 MySTIE strategy.

The roadshow also reaffirmed UUM’s commitment to bilateral cooperation with Baise University through co-supervised PhD research, student exchange and mobility programmes, joint publications and research grants, academic visits and international seminars.

This initiative supports UUM’s ongoing mission to advance transnational education and strengthen research collaboration in areas such as digital innovation, supply-chain intelligence, tourism analytics, public policy, computing, and AI-driven socio-economic development.

Speakers at the event included Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr Mohamad Ghozali Hassan (School of Technology Management & Logistics, UUM) and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr Nor Hazlyna Harun (School of Computing, UUM).

UUM also acknowledge Dr Tang Ying, a UUM alumna and escort officer, for her role in coordinating and facilitating the programme. Dr Tang’s research on recycling behaviour among Chinese university students – grounded in the Theory of Planned Behaviour – continues to offer valuable insights for sustainable waste-management policy development.

The UUM Roadshow 2025 stands as an important step in strengthening education diplomacy and enhancing the long-term academic partnerships between Malaysia and China.
