Winter Cultural Xchange @UUM strengthens Malaysia-Uzbekistan ties through immersive experiences

SINTOK, 5 March 2025: The Winter Cultural Xchange @UUM Programme successfully concluded after an enriching 10-day experience, during which the Uzbekistan delegation immersed themselves in Kedah’s warm hospitality, cultural exchanges, industrial visits, and academic engagements.
Organised by the Centre for International Affairs and Cooperation (CIAC), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), the programme, held from 17to 27 February 2025, provided participants with a unique blend of educational, cultural, and social experiences.
Throughout the programme, the Uzbekistan participants engaged in various cultural and academic activities, gaining insights into Malaysia’s heritage, traditions, and way of life. They expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality extended by CIAC and UUM staff, especially Mr. Mohd Azri Abdul Aziz and Mr. Amierul Husni Che Abd Rahman. The friendships formed with UUM student volunteers—Eilliyah Fong Abdullah, Ng Xin Ke, and Touh Hooi Ting—also left a lasting impression, fostering meaningful cross-cultural connections.
Reflecting on her experience, Muqaddas Hamidova from Termez State University shared, “The 10-day programme has been the best experience of my life. I learned so much and tried out new activities that left unforgettable memories. This is my first time travelling abroad, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to discover Malaysia’s diverse culture.”
Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Aziz Umarov, from Termez State Pedagogical Institute, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you for your warm hospitality. These 10 days passed by so quickly, it was an enriching and wonderful experience.”
From traditional culinary workshops and CSR activities to visits to tourist hotspots and industrial sites, the program successfully showcased Malaysia’s rich heritage while fostering global friendships and understanding. The warm hospitality of the Kedah community, combined with the support of UUM staff and student volunteers, played a crucial role in making the exchange programme a memorable and meaningful experience for the Uzbekistan delegation.
With its successful execution and positive impact, the Winter Cultural Xchange @UUM continues to strengthen Malaysia-Uzbekistan relations through academic and cultural diplomacy.
