JAKARTA, 15 May 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to expand its international cooperation network with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. DR HAMKA (Uhamka), Indonesia in a ceremony held at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Uhamka, Jakarta.
The MoU signing ceremony was officiated by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan and Uhamka Rector, Prof. Gunawan Suryoputro, and was witnessed by senior management representatives from both institutions, including deputy rectors, deans, and academic and administrative staff.
The MoU is a continuation of the strategic partnership that has flourished over the past decade between UUM and Uhamka, encompassing areas such as teaching and learning, research, student mobility, and postgraduate education for Uhamka lecturers.
Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad noted that the agreement not only reinforces existing bilateral ties, but also paves the way for broader collaboration, particularly in high-impact joint research initiatives.
“This ongoing collaboration reflects UUM’s commitment to expanding regional academic networks and strengthening our role as a leading management university.
“The primary focus this year is the implementation of 13 joint research themes that have been identified and mutually agreed upon,” he said.
Meanwhile, Uhamka Rector, Prof. Gunawan, expressed appreciation for the meaningful outcomes that the partnership has yielded over the past decade. Both institutions are now poised to elevate their collaboration, with a particular focus on advancing research and scholarly publications.
“Through this MoU, we intend to further strengthen cooperation in the field of research, with 13 key themes identified as the focus this year.
“In addition, student mobility programmes and opportunities for further studies among lecturers will continue to be actively pursued,” he said.
UUM believes that strategic collaborations such as this not only enhances the university’s international standing, but also bring significant benefits to both academics and students, contributing to the strengthening of the regional higher education ecosystem.
