UUM Hosts 83rd Public University JKTNCRA Meeting
SINTOK, 26 January 2026 – Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) successfully hosted the 83rd Public University Deputy Vice-Chancellors/Rectors (Academic and International) Committee Meeting (JKTNCRA No. 1/2026), which was conducted in a hybrid format at the Senate Room, UUM, today.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dato’ Gs. Dr Narimah Samat, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Chairman of the Public University JKTNCRA. The session was also attended by the Deputy Director-General of Higher Education, Prof. Dr Zainal Amin Ayub, underscoring the strategic importance of the meeting at the national higher education level.
Among the key agenda items was the sharing of strategic updates from the Department of Higher Education (JPT), Ministry of Higher Education, including matters related to IPTA student admissions and the internationalisation of higher education. The meeting also featured a special sharing session on the University of Malaya’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Academic Policy and the Guidelines for the Ethical Use of AI, reflecting a collective commitment to strengthening academic governance in line with rapid technological advancement.
In addition, members of the meeting deliberated on the proposed criteria for the appointment of accreditation assessment panel members for universities with self-accreditation status, as presented by the Public University Quality Management Council (MPQ-UA) for consideration and approval.
The meeting also served as a strategic platform to explore collaborative engagement between public universities in Malaysia and Ohio University, United States.
The organisation of the meeting reflects the public university system’s continued commitment to strengthening academic governance, enhancing the quality of higher education, and expanding international cooperation networks.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) of UUM, Prof. Dr. Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani, together with 13 deputy vice-chancellors representing other public universities nationwide.
Earlier, all Deputy Vice-Chancellors of Public Universities posed for a commemorative group photograph with the Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, prior to the commencement of the meeting.
