UUM Welcomes Launch of RPTM 2026–2035 to Strengthen National Education Agenda
PUTRAJAYA, 20 January 2026: Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim today officiated the launch of the Malaysia Education Plan 2026–2035 (RPM 2026–2035), a comprehensive national strategic framework aimed at transforming the country’s education system into one that is more sustainable, competitive and human-centred.
The launch ceremony, held at the Perdana Hall, Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), also marked the introduction of the Malaysia Higher Education Plan (RPTM) 2026–2035.
In his address, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim described the RPTM 2026–2035 as a decisive step towards building a higher education ecosystem that is sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive. He explained that the plan builds upon the foundation laid by the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015–2025 (Higher Education), while introducing a new phase of transformation to ensure the resilience and future-readiness of Malaysia’s higher education sector.
Among the main innovations of the RPTM 2026-2035 is its design as a “living document” which allows policies and strategies to be reviewed and refined periodically in response to rapid technological advancement and shifts in the global landscape.
In addition, RPTM 2026-2035 also places strong emphasis on nurturing graduates as nation-builders, integrating emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a critical enabler in teaching, learning, and research, as well as expanding access to higher education through more flexible and inclusive entry pathways.
Guided by the overarching principle of “Humanity-Centred and Goal-Driven Nation Building”, RPTM 2026–2035 is also supported by four core values, namely humanity-centred, holistic well-being, shared prosperity and sustainability for future generations.
The implementation of the RPTM 2026–2035 is expected to be a catalyst for the creation of a more inclusive, innovative, and high-impact higher education ecosystem, one that supports the country’s aspiration for a harmonious, prosperous, developed and sustainable future.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Martadha Mohamed described the RPTM 2026–2035 as a more mature, comprehensive and forward-looking framework compared to the PPPM (PT) 2015–2025.
“It not only completes the foundation laid by previous initiatives, but also broadens the horizon of higher education as a national project anchored in values, purpose, and a shared vision for the future,” he said.
Also present at the event were the Chairman of the UUM Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dr Mazlan Yusoff; deputy vice-chancellors and members of the UUM Student Representative Council.
