Vice-Chancellor Visits KDEB to Explore Strategic Collaborations Across Multiple Sectors
SHAH ALAM, 22 January 2026: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) paid an official visit to KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd, led by the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed.
The delegation also included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr Ram Al Jaffri Saad, and the Director of the Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC), Prof. Dr Chandrakantan Subramaniam.
They were warmly welcomed by KDEB’s Managing Director, Dato’ Ramli Mohd Tahir, who is also a UUM alumnus, together with the Assistant General Manager of Corporate Communications, Mdm. Mahfuzah Muhammad Tarmidi.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed said that the visit is part of UUM’s continuous commitment to expanding its strategic collaboration networks with the industry partners. In the brief meeting, he expressed his sincere appreciation to KDEB for hosting the UUM delegation and for the strong commitment shown in supporting the national higher education agenda.
He emphasised that the results of this collaboration would not only contribute directly to the development of the university, but would also play a vital role in producing graduates who are competitive, innovative, and ready to meet future industry demands.
“UUM welcomes this strategic collaboration with KDEB, which has the potential to support the university’s continuous development, particularly in the areas of academic, research, and the welfare of the campus community,” he said.
The meeting, conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere, reflected the shared commitment of both institutions to explore opportunities for high-impact and sustainable collaboration opportunities.
Discussion focused primarily on potential partnership in the areas of student and staff development, research collaboration and endowment initiatives.
These initiatives are expected to strengthen the university’s research ecosystem, stimulate innovation, and support the holistic development of student talent in line with the needs of the industry and the aspirations of the country’s higher education.
In addition, the discussion also explored opportunities for long-term collaboration in areas such human capital development, knowledge transfer and industry engagement in academic and research activities between UUM and KDEB.
As a gesture of support for UUM’s efforts to enhance its campus facilities, KDEB also announced the donation of a 55-inch television, symbolising the growing goodwill and collaborative spirit between the two institutions.
