SINTOK, 20 April 2025: In a vibrant display of cultural celebration and community spirit, staff and students at the School of Computing came together to mark the joyous occasion of Hari Raya. The annual event, organised by the Awang Had Salleh Graduate School (AHSGS), served as a platform to foster unity and strengthen social bonds among its members.

The celebration began with welcoming remarks by the Dean of AHSGS, Assoc. Prof. Dr Md. Zawawi Abu Bakar, who underscored the importance of nurturing interpersonal relationships and embracing diversity, especially during the month of Syawal.

Also gracing the occasion was the UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, who added prestige to the occasion and took the time to warmly engage with the attendees.

A sumptuous array of traditional Malay delicacies was served, including ketupat, rendang, lemang, and an assortment of festive cookies- evoking a true sense of Hari Raya nostalgia.

Among the highlights of the event was a group photo session, where guests, clad in vibrant traditional attire, pose in a moment that symbolised unity, cultural pride, and the spirit of festivity.

The event drew to a close with a doa selamat, leaving attendees with a renewed sense of gratitude and togetherness. More than just a cultural festivity, the event stood as a testament to the school’s commitment to inclusivity and harmony – transcending race, religion, and background.

This year’s Hari Raya gathering once again reaffirmed that beyond its rich traditions and festive cheer, the celebration continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the enduring values of love, unity, and national harmony. – Mohd Hasren Yusuf
