ALOR SETAR, 8 March 2025: The Alumni Centre of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), through the UUM Alumni Welfare Fund, recently paid a visit to Tuan Abdul Shakur Abdullah, the former Assistant Registrar of the university and a UUM alumnus who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Management in 2011.

Tuan Abdul Shakur is currently battling Stage 3 tongue cancer, which developed following an injury caused by a fragment of a tooth that wounded his tongue. He is presently in the recovery phase after completing several cycles of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

During the visit, eight staff members from the UUM Alumni Centre, including the Director and Deputy Director, spent time with Tuan Abdul Shakur at his residence in Alor Setar, Kedah. The visit was organised as a gesture of care and solidarity towards an alumnus facing serious health challenges, while also providing moral support to him and his family during this difficult time.

On the occasion, representatives of the Alumni Centre also presented financial assistance and a gift hamper as a sign of encouragement and support. The delegation also conveyed their prayers and well wishes for Tuan Abdul Shakur’s continued strength, perseverance and full recovery.

The UUM Alumni Centre also expressed its heartfelt appreciation to alumni who have contributed to the UUM Alumni Welfare Fund through the 1 Alumni 1 Ringgit Campaign, which continues to play a vital role in supporting welfare initiatives for alumni in need.

This initiative reflects the Alumni Centre’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the UUM alumni community, particularly those who require assistance and support in overcoming life’s challenges.
