Vice-Chancellor Urges Staff to Be Professional Administrative Officers Who Think Critically

SINTOK, 31 March 2026: The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, has called on the university’s administrative staff to consistently embody the qualities of “administrative officers who think critically” in carrying out their daily responsibilities.

He emphasised that every staff member must exercise sound judgement and uphold professionalism, particularly when engaging with students and stakeholders.

“Each day, we must reflect on aspects of our administrative practices that can be improved, while also taking into account feedback from stakeholders to ensure continuous enhancement.

“As members of the university, we are expected to engage with students and stakeholders in a professional manner. Avoid responding in anger and instead carry out our responsibilities with composure and accountability.

“Beyond professional competence, we must also demonstrate strong emotional control by prioritising a courteous and tactful approach in resolving any issues,” he said during an event held at Seminar Hall A, UUM Convention Complex. The programme, entitled “An Afternoon with the Vice-Chancellor: Aspirations of Service – Upholding the Vision, Strengthening the Organisation,” was organised by the Human Resource Department.

Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha added that cultivating a positive, calm, and solution-oriented work culture would enhance service quality and further strengthen the university’s image.

In this regard, he expressed hope that all UUM staff would continue to enhance their competencies and uphold a high standard of professionalism to ensure the delivery of services are efficient, friendly, and effective.
