Megat Sany Urges UUM to Adopt Full Online Registration

SINTOK, 23 September 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has been urged to transition towards a fully online system for both academic and residential registration of students.

The Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Dato’ Dr Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian said that the move is in line with the aspiration to develop a smart university that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Dr Megat Sany, who also serves as the Acting Chairman of the UUM Board of Directors, emphasised that changes must be made from time to time to ensure the services provided to the community continue to improve.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to the UUM management for ensuring that the registration process runs smoothly.

“I also visited several Residential Halls or INASIS, and I am pleased to see that the registration and management processes are operating at commendable level,” he said during the Vice-Chancellor’s Dialogue with Parents held in conjunction with the 2025/2026 Orientation week (Minggu Suai Kenal, MSK) at Mu’adzam Shah Hall.

As a UUM alumnus himself, Dr Megat Sany highlighted that unlike other universities, UUM provides full on-campus accommodation for all students.

“I would like to thank all parents who have entrusted their children to UUM, as this university is indeed the best choice for them to achieve success, “he added.

Meanwhile, UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan in his address stressed that student success should not only be measured by academic achievements, but also by strength of character, leadership, and personal maturity.

“Thank you for the trust you have placed in UUM to educate your children. We are committed to ensuring that they graduate not only with a degree, but also with moral values, leadership qualities, and their fullest potential,” he said.

Also present were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani; were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed; members of University Management Committee; heads of responsibility centres; senior university officers; Mr. Mohamad Amar Aidid Mohd Zain, President of the student Representative Council; and Mr. Muhammad Syafiq Haikal Safie, Director of MSK 2025/2026.
