KUALA LUMPUR, 18 January 2025: In an effort to foster the spirit of cooperation and commitment among professionals and private practitioners in promoting the role of property management in Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pertubuhan Profesional Tanah Malaysia (PERTAMA).

The MoU was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan and the President of PERTAMA, Prof. Dr Ismail Omar at the AnCasa Hotel, today.

He said that the project will indirectly enhance the network between UUM and PERTAMA as aligned in the National Higher Education Strategic Plan agenda.

According to him, this MoU demonstrates the commitment of both parties to foster collaborations by organising courses and training pertinent to land administration in Malaysia, specifically for UUM denizens.

He said that the involvement of PERTAMA can enhance the knowledge of both parties and facilitate the connection between theory and practice.

“In addition, this collaboration network would undoubtedly enhance the development of UUM students, especially by offering practical exposure to property management in Malaysia.

“Such collaborations should be continued in the future to diversify contributions from the organisation, thus enhancing the impact and benefits to students, UUM denizens, and the surrounding community,” he said at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Utara Malaysia and the Malaysian Land Professionals Association.

He said that this partnership can serve as a platform for dialogue in the advancement and enhancement of a curriculum in land administration, management and development that is more inclusive and conducive to the academic programmes offered by the School of Government (SoG).

According to him, this relationship will not end here and will be formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the provision of the Local Authority Professional Certificate and Income Generation in the near future.

He expressed his fervent hope that collaboration between UUM and PERTAMA will remain robust and enduring through the organisation of joint activities in the future.

Meanwhile, Dr Ismail, the President of PERTAMA said that this MoU serves as a platform for fostering a strong relationship with academic institutions specialising in management, including policy and so on.

He asserted that PERTAMA is a decade old and has navigated life’s challenges, resulting in increased stability and maturity.

He said that the synergy between PERTAMA and UUM enables further exploration, particularly in the field of local government, such as landslides, major fires and many more.

“The amalgamation of knowledge will empower us to confront future issues and facilitate the exploration of more structured methods for establishing close and solid cooperation.

“This MoU serves as a foundational element for synergy, in addition to its strategic significance. It is a step forward in developing this strength with the help of UUM,” he said.
