UUM Law Subject Ranked Among Top 200 Worldwide

SINTOK, 22 January 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) made history by securing its first-ever spot in the esteemed Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking by Subject 2025 for the subject of law, earning a position in the 176-200 range.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan said that this landmark achievement marks a significant achievement in UUM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its position as a leading institution of higher learning, particularly in the field of law on the global stage.

He attributed the success to the collective efforts of the university’s staff, whose unwavering commitment to excellence in high-quality research, cultivation of an increasingly influential international reputation, and commitment to academic excellence have all played crucial roles.

“The UUM Law School has shown a notable increase in high-impact research, while successfully forging a network of strategic collaborations with international institutions and professional bodies.

“UUM law graduates are globally recognized, and the entry requirements are notably stringent due to the high demand,” he said.

This edition of THE World University Rankings by Subjects 2025 evaluates higher education institutions based on five main pillars, encompassing 18 performance indicators. The evaluation components include teaching, research environment, research quality, international image and industry engagement.

The ranking also positions UUM among the world’s leading universities evaluated for the subject, subsequently placing it among 389 selected universities.

Other subjects listed in THEWUR by Subject 2025 include Business and Economics (201-250), Education Studies (201–250), Social Sciences (301–400), Physical Sciences (401–500), and Computer Science (601-800).
