UUM signs LoI for collaboration with Van Lan University
BANDAR SUNWAY, 24 February 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Van Lang University, (VLU) Vietnam, to enhance academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
The LoI was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, and Vice-President of VLU Vietnam, Ms. Bui Pham Lan Phuong, signifying a shared commitment to exploring collaborative opportunities across diverse academic and research fields.
Prof. Dr Mohd Foad said that both institutions have agreed to leverage their respective expertise, knowledge, and resources to jointly develop and organise academic programmes and courses.
“This LoI is not a legally binding contract, rather, it establishes the foundation for the subsequent preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).
“This LoI shall remain in effect for a duration of 12 months, unless both parties mutually agree to advance to the next stage,” he said.
This agreement is anticipated to pave the way for more academic collaboration, foster students and staff exchanges, and promote research initiatives that will benefit both institutions.
The LoI signing ceremony was held in conjunction with the ASEAN Universities Exhibition and Forum (AEF) 2025. The event brought together numerous higher education institutions from across the ASEAN region to engage in discussions and formalise strategic collaborations in the fields of academics and research.
This collaboration aligns with UUM’s aspirations as a Leading Management University and reflects its commitment to further enhancing international networks within the academic community.
This strategic partnership enables UUM to further enhance its reputation as a globally competitive institution of higher education.
The ceremony was attended by the Director-General of Higher Education at the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, Datuk Prof. Dr Azlinda Azman, and the Chief Executive Officer of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), Mr. Novie Tajuddin.
Also present was UUM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani.
