UUM Strengthens Strategic Ties in Johor Through Alumni and Agency Engagement
PASIR GUDANG, 4 June 2025: The Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Alumni Centre in partnership with the UUM Academic Marketing Department, recently hosted the Johor Synergy programme: UUM Academic Dinner and Promotion with Agencies and Alumni, at the Aqabah Tower, Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG), Johor.
This programme was graced by the presence of UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, alongside Pasir Gudang City Council Mayor cum UUM alumnus, Dato’ Mustaffa Kamal Dato’ Shamsudin. Also, in attendance was, Mr. Ahmad Sujaie Nanyan from FIMA Bulking Services Berhad, representing the event’s main corporate sponsors.
The event welcomed a total of 150 guests, including esteemed alumni and officers from MBPG. More than just a dinner, the programme featured a dedicated promotional session for UUM’s postgraduate academic programmes, creating valuable opportunities for agencies and alumni to explore broader educational collaborations with the university.
During the event, Dato’ Mustaffa Kamal expressed his keen interest in the UUM Master’s programme, announcing his intention to send at least 40 MBPG officers to further their studies. He also expressed his willingness to provide MBPG learning facilities in support of the programme’s implementation. UUM warmly welcomed this proposal as a promising step towards fostering enduring strategic cooperation within the state of Johor.
Representing the University, the Director of the UUM Alumni Centre, Assoc. Prof. Dr Lily Julienti Abu Bakar, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to all individuals and organisation that played a pivotal role in the success of this programme. Special thanks were extended to Mr. Ahmad Sujaie from FIMA Bulking Services Berhad and the Mayor of Pasir Gudang, for their unwavering support, generous sponsorship and invaluable commitment.
This spirit of collaboration reflects the strength of UUM’s alumni, which continues to champion the University’s mission and aspirations. He envisions the programme as a dynamic platform for enhancing strategic networks between UUM, its alumni and state-level agencies. This initiative aims to empower alumni as vital contributors to both the institution’s growth and the broader national education agenda.
Also present at the event were the UUM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, and the Director of UUM Marketing Division, Assoc. Prof. Dr Ahmad Hisham Zainal Abidin, who delivered an insightful presentation on UUM’s academic promotional initiatives.
