UUM Assists in Penang Bumiputera Development Master Plan 2026-2035

PENANG, 20 July 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has been entrusted with the preparation of the Penang Bumiputera Master Plan 2026 – 2035 (PIPBP35) which was launched by the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister presented a plaque of appreciation during a historic ceremony held at the Main Hall of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Penang branch. The Vice-Chancellor of UUM, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, accepted the honour on behalf of the research team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr Jauriyah Shamsuddin from the School of Business Management (SBM).

The PIPBPP35 is the outcome of extensive research and close collaboration among three prominent public universities – UUM, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Penang branch with the research team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr Jauriyah Shamsuddin and supported by UUM’s subsidiary, UUM Solutions Sdn. Bhd.

The Prime Minister also presented plaques of appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of USM, Prof. Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr Abdul Rahman Mohamed, and Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr Hj. Ahmad Rashidy Razali who is currently performing the duties of the Rector of UiTM Penang branch.

The three core pillars of PIPBPP35 emphasised are Individuals and Society, Economy, and Governance and Policy. The outlined strategies aim to enhance social well-being, stimulate Bumiputera economic participation and ensure effective governance and inclusive policies for the state’s development.

UUM extends its highest appreciation to the Penang Bumiputera Development Council and Penang Bumiputera Participation Coordination Division for the trust placed in the university in developing this strategic state policy framework.
