362 New Students Officially Welcomed at UUM Pledge Ceremony
SINTOK, 15 October 2025: A total of 362 new students have received offers of admission to Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for the 2025/2026 Academic Session through appeal applications and open channels. They were officially welcomed as part of the UUM family at the New Student Pledge Ceremony held at the Tradewinds Inasis Hall.
The ceremony, organised in conjunction with the Orientation Week (MSK), was graced and officiated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all parties whose dedication ensured the success of MSK. He also extended his warmest congratulations to the new students, now officially members of the UUM community.
“As a UUM student, you are not here merely to pursue knowledge, but also to mould your character, enhance personality, enhance your soft skills, and blossom into individuals of calibre,” he said.
He further emphasised that student success is not only defined by academic achievement, but also by the ability to unlock one’s potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
According to him, the Pledge Ceremony is more than just a symbolic rite of passage; it embodies the determination and commitment of new students to uphold the university’s good name and live by UUM’s core values, which represent the very culture and practices of its campus community.
The event also featured the presentation of letters of appointment to student representatives.
Also in attendance were Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni); Members of the University Management Committee; Heads of Centres of Authority; Senior university officials; President of the Student Representative Council, Director of the UUM Orientation Week for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, as well as members of the Student Representative Council.
