PENANG, 2 November 2025: Team Shawarma Army, comprising Shreethaar Arunagirinathan, Muhammad Afiq bin Mohd Nizam, and Harraz Amsyar Bin Khairul Amin, emerged as champions of the NERaCA 3.0 CTF Competition x CYRES USM, held at the School of Computer Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
The competition, organised by rawSEC, a vibrant cybersecurity community committed to fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing among students and professionals, took place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It brought together some of the most talented cybersecurity enthusiasts from institutions across the nation to showcase their technical prowess in a real-world Capture The Flag (CTF) environment. Participants were tested across multiple domains, including forensics, reverse engineering, web exploitation, and miscellaneous problem-solving challenges.
Throughout the competition, team Shawarma Army demonstrated exceptional teamwork, analytical acumen, and technical mastery. Their ability to decode complex challenges and maintain consistency across diverse categories enabled them to dominate the scoreboard and ultimately secure the First Place position among all competing teams.
Expressing their gratitude, the team credited their victory to countless hours of practice, shared learning, and unwavering collaboration. They also extended appreciation to the organisers and mentors for creating a platform that not only tested their technical proficiency but also strengthen essential traits for future cybersecurity professionals−resilience, adaptability, and teamwork.
