6,832 Graduands to Receive Degrees at UUM’s 38th Convocation
ALOR SETAR, 3 November 2025 — A total of 6,832 graduands will receive their degrees during nine sessions of the 38th Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Convocation Ceremony, to be held from 9 to 13 November 2025 at Mu’adzam Shah Hall, UUM.
His Royal Highness Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Tuanku Chancellor, will graciously officiate the ceremony and confer the degrees during the first session.
UUM Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan said the graduands comprise 5,575 undergraduates and 1,241 postgraduates, including recipients of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Management, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), and Master’s degrees, as well as 16 Executive Diploma in Business Management graduands.
This year’s convocation celebrates 6,317 local graduands and 441 international graduands representing 53 countries, including Indonesia (164), China (109), Pakistan (36), Saudi Arabia (23), Nigeria (21), Somalia (18), and Iraq (17), among others.
UUM will also confer the Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Business Management upon Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, 64, Chairman of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University. This prestigious recognition marks the 55th conferment of an honorary doctorate since UUM’s inaugural convocation in 1988.
The Royal Education Award will be presented to Mr. Mohammad Noor Aiman bin Hassan Nudin, 23, from Tawau, Sabah, and Ms. Vianca Syam A/P Shamlal, 24, from Kedah. The Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award will be conferred on Mr. Wong Yoong Wai, 24, from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
Each recipient of the Royal Education Award will receive RM7,500 in cash and a commemorative certificate, while the Chancellor’s Gold Medal Award winner will receive RM4,000 in cash and a commemorative certificate.
Among the 5,575 undergraduate graduands, 1,339 achieved First-Class Honours.
This year’s convocation also marks a milestone with the pioneer batch of 137 graduands from three newly introduced programmes namely the Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Information Technology with Honours, the Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Literature and Creative Industry Management with Honours, and the Bachelor of Applied History with Honours.
Adding to the list of distinguished recipients, Deputy Minister of Works, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Maslan, will also be conferred the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree on the second day of the convocation ceremony.
In conjunction with the 38th Convocation Ceremony, UUM is also hosting the Convocation Fair (PESKON38) from 6 to 14 November 2025, carrying the theme “Keusahawanan Pemacu Kebitaraan Graduan”.
