Sultan of Kedah Grants Audience to UUM Delegation; Progress of Kedah Tua Initiatives Presented
ALOR SETAR, 21 April 2026: His Royal Highness Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman and Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), graciously granted an audience to a UUM delegation led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, at Wisma Darul Aman today.

During the audience, Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha apprised His Royal Highness of several key university initiatives, including the forthcoming publication on Kedah Tua, the proposed establishment of the Kedah Tua Gallery, as well as a special commemorative publication in honour of His RH in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of His Royal Highness’s reign.
Also presented during the audience were preliminary preparations for UUM’s 39th Convocation Ceremony, which is scheduled to be held in November.
In addition, the Vice-Chancellor respectfully sought His Royal Highness’s views on several proposed questions to be featured in the publication Kedah Tua: Gateway to Southeast Asian Civilisation, as well as on the conceptual development of the Kedah Tua Gallery, an initiative spearheaded by the Sultanah Bahiyah Library.
Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha also submitted, for His Royal Highness’s gracious consideration, the proposed recipients of honorary degrees for this year’s convocation ceremony.
Also in attendance during the audience were former Chief Librarian of the Sultanah Bahiyah Library, Prof. Dr Che Azlan Taib, and Director of UUM Press, Assoc. Prof. Dr Johan Afendi Ibrahim, who oversees the university’s publication affairs.
