HRMC strengthens graduate employability through CV x Interview Skills Workshops 2026

SINTOK, 5 May 2026: The Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) community, together with participants from outside the university, recently took part in the CV x Interview Skills Workshops: Are You Degree-Ready or Career-Ready? held online via the Cisco Webex platform.  The programme successfully attracted nearly 200 participants, reflecting strong interest in career readiness and employability skills.

The workshop was organised by the HR Management Club (HRMC) in collaboration with Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), under the guidance of advisor Ms. Nor Farah Hanis Zainun The organising committee was led by its President Ms. Ayu Umairah Jamiran and Project Director Mr. Danish Iskandar.

Designed to equip participants with employability skills, the online workshop focused on crafting professional and impactful Curriculum Vitae (CV) and developing effective interview techniques. The initiative aimed to enhance participants’ competitiveness in an increasingly demanding job market.

The programme featured a sharing session by invited speaker Mr. Mohamad Azlan bin Mohamad Nasrun from TalentCorp, who delivered two insightful segments titled “CV Mastery: Craft a CV That Gets You Hired” and “Interview Edge: Speak, Impress, Get Hired.” These sessions provided practical guidance on structuring compelling CVs, highlighting relevant skills and experiences, and aligning applications with current industry expectations.

Participants were also exposed to effective interview strategies, including techniques for answering commonly asked questions, improving self-presentation, and building confidence throughout the hiring process. The interactive nature of the sessions enabled participants to gain valuable real-world insights and a deeper understanding of employer expectations.

A key highlight of the programme was the opportunity for participants to learn directly from an industry practitioner, gaining valuable tips and insider perspectives on contemporary recruitment practices. This exposure offered a meaningful learning experience that extended beyond the traditional classroom setting.

Through this workshop, participants enhanced their CV writing skills, strengthened their communication abilities, and build greater confidence in navigating job interviews. The programme also contributed to the development of essential soft skills, including critical thinking, adaptability, and professional self-presentation.

According to the Project Director, Mr. Danish Iskandar, initiatives such as this play a crucial role in preparing students and the wider community for future career opportunities. “Programmes like this help bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, ensuring that graduates are better prepared to enter the workforce,” he shared.
