SERDANG, 5 August 2026 – The Accounting Competency Challenge (ACC) 2026, which marked its 10th anniversary, concluded on 5 August at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), bringing together aspiring accounting professionals from Malaysia and ASEAN countries to celebrate a decade of excellence, global exposure and leadership development.
Organised by the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) UUM Chapter of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), the four-day competition brought together 57 participants from local public and private universities, as well as universities from ASEAN countries, in a rigorous series of challenges designed to test and enhance their accounting knowledge and competencies.
The opening ceremony, held on 1 August, was attended by distinguished guests, including Prof. Dr. Selamah Maamor, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of the College of Business, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM COB); Dr. Nur Shuhamin Nazuri, Coordinator of the BGS UUM Chapter; Dr. Zaidi Mat Daud, Head of the Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) Programme, School of Business and Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia; Ms. Cheah Xiao Tung, President of the BGS UUM Chapter Cohort 9; Ms. Khaw Qi Xuan, President of UPM Accounting Club 2025/2026; Ms. Chong Kah Yan, Project Director of ACC2026; members of the ACC 2026 organising committee, sponsor representatives, and participants from ASEAN countries.
ACC 2026 featured a series of dynamic challenges designed to test and showcase the participants’ accounting knowledge, analytical abilities and problem-solving skills. The event commenced with a seminar delivered by Mr. Aiman Kamil bin Ahmad Shauqi from RHB Investment Bank, who shared valuable insights into investment.
The seminar was followed by a series of competitive challenges, namely Challenge 1: Initium Officiale, Challenge 2: Alta Aestimatio, the Repechage Challenge: Occasio Aurelia, and the Final Challenge: Vespera Ultimora.
The closing ceremony was attended by Dr. Nur Shuhamin Nazuri, Coordinator of BGS UUM Chapter, together with distinguished guests, participants and members of the organising committee at DKSPE 1, School of Business and Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Beyond the competition itself, ACC 2026 provided participants with valuable opportunities for personal and professional development. The challenging activities strengthened their technical accounting knowledge, sharpened their critical thinking and expanded their professional networks through interactions with peers from across ASEAN.
At the same time, members of the organising committee gained valuable hands-on experience in leadership, event management and teamwork. The 10th anniversary celebration concluded with a celebratory banquet held at the Engineering Foyer, Universiti Putra Malaysia.
