UUM Strengthens Women Entrepreneurs Through Digital Entrepreneurship, Finance and Marketing Programme

SINTOK, 10 August 2026: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to strengthen its community empowerment agenda through the successful implementation of the “Dari Impian ke Realiti: Kuasai Pemasaran Digital dan Pengurusan Kewangan dalam Keusahawanan Wanita di Kubang Pasu” programme under the Social Innovation Grant Scheme (SIGS) 2025 (S/O Code: 22023).

The programme culminated in a Closing Ceremony, Certificate Presentation and Handover of Entrepreneurship Equipment officiated by the Deputy Director of the Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Farhan Mohamad Mohsin.

In his speech, he said the programme demonstrated UUM’s commitment to transferring the university’s knowledge and expertise to the community through practical and sustainable initiatives that deliver a direct impact.

“Women entrepreneurs play an important role in strengthening both the family and national economies. Therefore, UUM remains committed to enhancing their knowledge, skills and competitiveness to enable them to navigate the challenges of the growing digital economy,” he said.

The program was led by the Principal Researcher Assoc. Prof. Dr. Logasvathi d/o Murugiah, together with a research team comprising Dr. Juhaida Binti Abu Bakar, Dr. Azrain Nasyrah Binti Mustapa, Mdm. Syahrina Binti Abdullah and Ts. Dr. Mathivannan A/L Jaganathan.

Throughout the programme, participants took part in 10 intensive training sessions covering three key areas: entrepreneurship, financial management and digital marketing. The training included business financial management, digital marketing strategies, product branding, the use of social media as a marketing platform, digital content development and the application of digital technology to enhance business performance.

A total of nine women entrepreneurs from Persatuan Usahawan Wanita Bukit Kayu Hitam, Persatuan Wanita Inspirasi Mampan Jerlun and USAHANITA Negeri Kedah – Persatuan Usahawan Wanita Bumiputera Malaysia participated in the programme.

As a follow-up to the training, the participants were also provided with entrepreneurial equipment to support their business operations and enhance productivity.

Meanwhile, Principal Researcher, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Logasvathi d/o Murugiah said the programme aimed to enhance the capacity of women entrepreneurs through knowledge transfer and training aligned with current business needs.

“In addition to equipping participants with knowledge in financial management and digital marketing, the programme also aims to build their confidence in leveraging digital technology to expand their market reach and increase their income,” she said.

The participants expressed their gratitude to UUM for providing them with the opportunity to take part in the professional training. They said the programme had broadened their perspectives on managing their businesses more systematically while boosting their confidence to explore business opportunities through digital platforms.

The implementation of this programme reflects UUM’s active role as a university that not only pursues academic and research excellence but also places strong emphasis on knowledge transfer, social innovation and community development.

This initiative is also aligned with UUM’s aspiration to foster a competitive and innovative society capable of contributing meaningfully to the country’s socio-economic development. – Ts. Dr. Mathivannan Jaganathan
