UUM strengthens academic ties in meetings with Cambridge scholars

UNITED KINGDOM, 16 March 2025: In conjunction with his visit to the University of Cambridge, Prof. Dr. Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), met with Mdm. Lynda Haines, Visiting Scholar Coordinator from the Department of Land Economy, and Dr Liana Chua, Associate Professor in Malay World Studies at Tunku Abdul Rahman Fund, University of Cambridge, on 12 March 2025.
During his discussion with Mdm. Lynda, he gained valuable insights into the processes and procedures governing postgraduate mobility and visiting scholar programmes at the Department of Land Economy.
This exchange provided a clearer understanding of both programmes, which could serve as a model for similar initiatives at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in the future. The conversation also explored opportunities for UUM faculty members to undertake sabbatical programmes at the University of Cambridge.
Meanwhile, his discussion with Dr Liana Chua focused on opportunities for UUM students to apply for the Tunku Abdul Rahman Fund, which supports the development of the humanities and social sciences in Malaysia.
Dr Liana also expressed her willingness to facilitate connections with relevant departments to support UUM faculty members interested in becoming visiting scholars or undertaking sabbaticals at the University of Cambridge.
Overall, the discussions were highly productive, paving the way for potential academic collaborations between UUM and the University of Cambridge.
