UUM Shines in Asian and International University Rankings
SINTOK, 25 April 2025: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to demonstrate its academic excellence by being ranked among the top 127 universities in Asia, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2025.
This accomplishment positions UUM as the eighth-best university in ASEAN and the sixth-best in Malaysia.
Globally, UUM retains its ranking in the 401–500 band of the world’s top universities, as reported by the THE World University Rankings 2025. Both rankings highlight the university’s ongoing commitment in strengthening academic quality, broadening research networks, and enhancing teaching excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Foad Sakdan attributed this success to the collective dedication of all UUM staff in realizing the university’s vision as a premier institution of higher learning focused on exemplary management.
THE Asia University Rankings evaluates over 1,000 universities across Asia based on 18 indicators categorised into five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industrial relations and international perspective.
The latest ranking serves as a solid foundation for UUM to further develop strategic global partnerships, attract international talent and enhance its position as a competitive hub of knowledge excellence on the global stage.
