Prestige and Excellence Mark the First-Ever UUM Open Golf Tournament

SINTOK, 1 September 2025: Mr. Abdullah Dania emerged as the Open (Gross) Champion of the 2025 UUM Open Golf Tournament after delivering an outstanding performance, recording 71 strokes on the first day and 72 strokes on the second day of play last Saturday.

For his achievement, he took home RM2,000 in cash, a Garmin watch and a championship trophy.

In the Open Category (Medal A), the champion title went to Mr. Roslan Piei, who received RM1,700 in cash and a Garmin watch.

Meanwhile, in the Open Category (Medal B), Mr. Mohamad Fisol Othman emerged as the champion, taking home RM1,500 in cash along with a Fairway Wood Qi35.

The Prize Presentation Ceremony was officiated by His Royal Highness (HRH) Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Ibni Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin, the Tuanku Raja Muda of Kedah, who graciously accepted the invitation to attend this prestigious tournament, held for the first time.

His arrival was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud; UUM Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Fo’ad Sakdan; Member of the UUM Board of Directors and Chairman of UUM Holdings, YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Zuhri Abdullah; as well as other distinguished guests.

HRH Tuanku Raja Muda of Kedah also consented to participate in the golf competition at the Sultan Sallehuddin Golf Club, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), before proceeding to EDC Hotels & Resorts UUM to attend the luncheon. There, he personally presented the prizes to the winners.

The UUM Open Golf Tournament 2025 has reaffirmed its status as a prestigious sports platform that not only unites golfers from diverse backgrounds but also strengthens the ties between the university and the wider community.
