UUM Golf Team Shines as Runner-Up in the 52nd Public University Golf Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, 13–14 October 2025 – The Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Golf Team once again brought pride to the university after emerging as the Overall Runner-up in the 52nd Public University Golf Championship, held on 13 and 14 October 2025.

Adding to the triumph, UUM also clinched several notable awards:

  • Best Contingent Runner-up
  • Individual Gross Runner-up
  • Team Gross Runner-up
  • Fourth Place Team Nett

The victory was made even more memorable when the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, secured fourth place in the VIP category, while the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dr Ahmad Martadha Mohamed, finished seventh.

This year’s tournament, hosted by Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), gathered an impressive field of 317 golfers from public universities nationwide, with UUM proudly represented by a 29-member contingent.

UUM Golf Team Captain, Mr. Ali Badron Mokhtar, attributed the team’s success to unwavering determination, discipline, and strategic preparation, coupled with the strong support of the university community.

“As a university recognised as a Centre of Excellence in Golf and home to an international-standard 18-hole golf course, UUM is committed to nurturing high-performance golfers and making this sport a preferred choice among our campus community,” he said.

He further emphasised that the active participation of students and staff in golf not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also has the potential to elevate UUM’s reputation at both the national and international arenas.
