KUALA LUMPUR, 15 February 2026: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has further strengthened its global research reputation through the appearance of Datuk Professor Ts. Dr Hjh. Norazah Mohd Suki on Bernama TV’s current affairs programme “The Nation”, in a special episode aired on 11 February in conjunction with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

A Professor of Marketing and E-Commerce at the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business, Datuk Prof Norazah has been recognised among the world’s top two percent of scientists for seven consecutive years, from 2019 to 2025, reflecting her sustained impact in research.

In 2025, she was ranked 167th globally in Business and Management and 5,173rd overall among the world’s 100,000 high-impact scientists, with notable expertise in marketing and e-commerce research. Her distinguished accomplishments were further recognised when she received the Women in Research Excellence Award (Social Sciences Category) at the Malaysia Scopus Research Star Awards (MRSA) 2025 ceremony. Officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education, the awards honour outstanding Malaysian researchers whose work contributes meaningfully to national academic and socio-economic advancement.

More recently, Datuk Prof Norazah was conferred the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW), which carries the title Datuk, during the Federal Territory Day 2026 investiture ceremony at Istana Negara on 5 February, officiated by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

During her television appearance, Datuk Prof. Norazah reflected on her academic journey and the values that continue to shape her work in teaching, research, and service.

She shared that her career in academia was inspired by a deep curiosity about human behaviour and a strong belief in the transformative power of education, particularly for young people and communities.

She also acknowledged the influence of early mentors and academic role models who demonstrated how research can create measurable and lasting impact. Emphasising the importance of strong professional networks, she highlighted continuous upskilling in research methodology, academic writing, and scholarly publishing as essential to sustaining excellence in academia.

Her research focuses on how businesses and consumers adapt to digital transformation, offering valuable insights for SMEs and digital entrepreneurs on customer experience, trust, and online decision-making, while also addressing broader societal considerations such as inclusion, ethics, and wellbeing.

Datuk Prof Norazah encouraged young women aspiring to pursue research careers to build strong foundations in communication, statistics, research methods, academic writing, and digital skills, while actively seeking mentors and supportive academic communities.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, observed annually on 11 February, is a United Nations initiative aimed at promoting full and equal participation of women and girls in science. The 2026 theme, “Synergising AI, Social Science, STEM and Finance: Building Inclusive Futures for Women and Girls,” underscores the importance of cross-sector collaboration in widening opportunities and addressing persistent gender gaps.

Her appearance on national television further reinforces UUM’s growing prominence on the international stage, showcasing the university’s research excellence, thought leadership, and continued commitment to advancing impactful scholarship.
