From UUM to De La Salle University: OYAGSB Professor Inspires Minds and Strengthens Global Academic Partnerships

MANILA, 6 July 2026: Professor of Marketing and E-Commerce at the Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Datuk Professor Ts. Dr Norazah Mohd Suki, successfully concluded her appointment as Distinguished Visiting Professor at De La Salle University, Philippines (DLSU), which ran from 20 June to 2 July 2026.

Hosted by the Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business through its Department of Marketing and Advertising (DMA) and the Marketing and Advertising Research Subcenter (MARS), the appointment served as an important platform for strengthening academic collaboration between Malaysia and the Philippines.
As part of her academic engagement, Datuk Professor Norazah Mohd Suki delivered two lectures on 23 June 2026 entitled “Malaysia as an Export Market for Philippine Products” and “Targeting Malaysian Consumers: Tips for Filipino Marketers.” The sessions provided valuable insights into Malaysia’s business environment, consumer behaviour, market opportunities, and strategies for Filipino businesses seeking to expand into the Malaysian and regional markets.
On 25 June 2026, she served as the resource speaker for an online session entitled “Effective Campaign Writing for Public Relations.” During the session, she shared practical approaches to developing impactful campaign messages and strengthening strategic public relations initiatives.

Her academic engagement continued on 26 June 2026 with a webinar entitled “Credible Research Writing: A Pathway to Impactful Publications,” where she equipped faculty members and students with practical knowledge on producing high-quality, impactful, and publication-ready research. Later that day, she presented “Discover Malaysia and UUM: International Opportunities for Students,” introducing participants to UUM and OYAGSB’s academic programmes, international mobility opportunities, and global learning experiences.
On 27 June 2026, Datuk Professor Norazah was invited to deliver a keynote address at the 20th Global Business Conference in Manila. Held under the theme Business Beyond Borders, the conference brought together academics, researchers, and industry practitioners to discuss contemporary business issues, regional cooperation, and global challenges.
The programme continued on 29 June 2026 with a capacity-building workshop entitled “Research Journal Article Writing: From Proposal Ideation to Publication.” The workshop enhanced participants’ understanding of the scholarly publication process, from developing quality research proposals to preparing manuscripts for publication in reputable academic journals.

On 30 June 2026, Datuk Professor Norazah paid a courtesy call on the Vice President for Research and Innovation, Professor Raymond Girard R. Tan, and the Vice President for External Relations and Internationalization, Professor Dr Anthony Shun Fung Chiu, at DLSU. The meeting provided an important platform to discuss future strategic collaborations, including joint research initiatives, faculty mobility, academic exchanges, and broader institutional partnerships between UUM and DLSU.
Building on these discussions, she collaborated with faculty members from the DMA to advance joint research initiatives and explore opportunities for co-authored publications. She also mentored students pursuing professional careers and postgraduate studies, co-mentored Master of Science in Marketing students, and contributed valuable insights towards the curriculum development of DLSU’s forthcoming PhD in Marketing programme.
On 1 July 2026, she delivered a public seminar entitled “Philippines and Malaysia as Tourism Destinations: Understanding and Leveraging Visitors’ Behavior and Intention.” Drawing on her research expertise, she shared contemporary perspectives on tourism marketing, destination competitiveness, and consumer behaviour. The seminar stimulated meaningful discussions on tourism development while strengthening cross-cultural understanding between Malaysia and the Philippines.

The academic engagement concluded on 2 July 2026, marking another significant milestone in promoting academic excellence, international collaboration, and scholarly exchange. Prior to her departure for Malaysia, Datuk Professor Norazah paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Malaysia in the Philippines, where she was received by His Excellency Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines. The visit provided an opportunity to share the outcomes of her academic engagement with the Embassy and discuss potential avenues for strengthening Malaysia–Philippines collaboration in research and postgraduate education.
Reflecting on the engagement, Datuk Professor Norazah said, “Through lectures, seminars, workshops, research consultations, and mentoring sessions, this engagement has established a stronger foundation for long-term collaboration between UUM and DLSU.”
She added that the appointment reaffirmed UUM’s position as a globally engaged university committed to advancing research excellence, innovation, talent development, and impactful international partnerships.
