KANGAR, 2 July 2026: Strike Voyage 2026, a sport tourism programme organised by GHZNK2013 Sport Tourism Students’ Group B in collaboration with the Event Management Students’ Society (EMSS), and with the support of the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (STHEM), was successfully held in Perlis recently.

The programme involved 74 students and two lecturers, namely Mr. Liew Sien Leong and Ms. Pavithra d/o Dorasamy.

Strike Voyage 2026 was designed to integrate sports, recreation and tourism through a meaningful student-led programme. It provided students with the opportunity to strengthen their physical, mental and social skills while gaining exposure to the potential of Perlis as a domestic sport tourism destination.

The programme featured two main activities, namely an individual bowling competition at Perlis Bowl, The Store Kangar, and a group TikTok video contest at selected tourism destinations, including Padang Besar and Pasar Terapung Perlis.

The video contest encouraged participants to creatively showcase the uniqueness and tourism potential of Perlis through digital storytelling and promotional content.

One of the highlights of Strike Voyage 2026 was the visit to Pasar Terapung Perlis. Although the area was relatively quiet at first, the presence of the participants helped create a livelier atmosphere through their interactions with local vendors, purchases and content creation activities. This experience allowed participants to fain a deeper appreciation of the role played by local attractions and small businesses in strengthening Perlis as a tourism destination.

The bowling competition received enthusiastic participation from students and created an engaging atmosphere throughout the programme. A total of 10 awards were presented to participants who demonstrated outstanding performance during the competition.

Programme Advisor and Course Lecturer, Mr. Liew Sien Leong, said Strike Voyage 2026 provided students with valuable first-hand experience in organising a sport tourism programme.

“For many students, this was their first time handling a sport tourism event of this nature. Although they faced challenges and had to make several adjustments along the way, they managed to complete the programme successfully.

“I am proud of their effort, teamwork and commitment. Through this programme, they also learned how sports can support physical and mental development, while using TikTok videos as a creative platform to promote Perlis as a tourism destination,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Programme Director, Ms. Nurul Iman Farzana Mohamad Zamri, a first-year Bachelor of Tourism Management (Hons.) student, expressed her appreciation to the committee members for their hard work and commitment.

“Planning an event is not easy. It takes effort, teamwork and commitment from everyone. To me, a successful sport tourism event is not only about carrying out the programme, but also about creating meaningful moments and bringing people together.

“I believe that with good teamwork, creativity and dedication, we can turn simple ideas into experiences that leave a lasting impression,” she said.

Strike Voyage 2026 showed how sports and tourism can be meaningfully connected through student-led activities. The programme also strengthened students’ appreciation of Perlis as a domestic tourism destination and encouraged them to explore new ideas in sport tourism.

The organisers also expressed their appreciation to the sponsors, namely Luka.co, The Woodcraft Garage, Dakwat Design and SD Mart, for their support in making the programme more meaningful and successful.
