UUM student gains global exposure through Innovation and Cultural Exchange Programme

SURABAYA, 13 May 2026: Representing Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and the UUM School of Law, Ms.  Wan Airyn Batrisya recently participated in the Java Impact Journey 2026, an international immersion programme hosted by Universitas Ciputra from 19 to 25 April 2026.

The intensive seven-day programme was designed to cultivate innovation, intercultural understanding, and environmental sustainability, while equipping participants with essential competencies required of global citizens. Throughout the programme, participants engaged in a series of dynamic learning lessons, including Creative Digital Workshops focusing on digital communication, basic artificial intelligence (AI), and design thinking. The programme also featured an Innovation Showcase that encouraged participants to collaborate in developing creative and impactful solutions to contemporary challenges.

Beyond the academic experience, the programme offered valuable opportunities for cultural immersion and environmental appreciation. Participants explored local heritage sites, visited the Surabaya Zoo, and took part in a scenic tour across Java, enabling them to gain deeper insights into Indonesia’s rich cultural and natural heritage.

One of the programme’s most memorable highlights took place during the visit to Taman Safari Prigen, where Ms. Wan Airyn Batrisya demonstrated outstanding knowledge and active engagement by securing first place in the programme’s featured quiz competition. Her achievement reflects the academic excellence, adaptability, and competitive spirit consistently nurtured at UUM, while further elevating the university’s presence on the international stage.

Reflecting on her experience, she expressed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the programme, describing it as a meaningful platform for academic and cultural exchange. The journey not only broadened her perspective on global innovation and sustainability, but also strengthened her confidence, cross-cultural awareness, and aspirations as a future global professional.
